Job Description

 Provide technical writing and support to the two teams in Oregon and Ontario. Gather, analyze, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Compose technical documents including software user manuals, system administrator manuals, software version documents, testing reports, training materials, proposals and project reports. Edit, and format according to specifications, functional descriptions, systems specifications, trade studies, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents. Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology. Also must be able to explain scientific and technical concepts and new developments in simple understandable language for the intended project. Ability to draft charts and graphs schematics to convey data in a comprehensive, easily understood manner. Must be able to use templates to create HTML files for web application online help.


Job Requirements

 Basic Qualifications: 


·         Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.  An additional 4 years of experience may be traded for degree requirement.

·         5 year professional writing experience

·         5 years experience meeting daily deadlines in publishing environment

·         Ability to plan, schedule and complete tasks while under deadline

·         Proficiency using desktop publishing applications (e.g., Framemaker, Cortona3D, Corena, AuhtorIT, MS Office products)

·         Ability to work independently with little or no supervision

·         Ability to work directly with customers, sponsors, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders such as engineers and developers.

Preferred Qualifications: 

·         Light rail vehicle product, environment and industry experience

·         Ability to research and write original documents and technical studies

·         Knowledge of S1000D for the production of technical publications and XML based applications

·         Familiar with, and conversant in, one or more of Framemaker, Cortona3D, Corena, AuhtorIT, Inmedius

·         Some knowledge of CAD 3D modeling.
