Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
·        To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Good Shepherd Ministries.
 
·        To provide a work ethic and role modelling of behaviours that demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Good Shepherd Ministries.
 
·        To provide service in a dignified and respectful manner that reflects the charism of Good Shepherd Ministries and which integrates non-discrimination/anti-racism frameworks.
 
·        To observe all health and safety rules and regulations and to work in a manner that minimizes risk to yourself, clients, staff and others as well as to the property of Good Shepherd Ministries. To perform your job responsibilities in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
 
·        To secure all external doors and first floor windows, check all fire exit doors and fire exit routs to ensure they are free from obstruction and operational.
 
·        To inform ‘On Call’ staff and take necessary action in the event of any fire, medical or physical emergency as instructed.
 
·        To carry out headcounts regularly throughout the night to ensure an exact record of occupancy load in case of emergency.
 
·        To assign vacant beds and complete the necessary records and forms upon admission.
 
·        To assist clients with questions or queries and record.
 
·        To carry out janitorial duties including the cleaning of floors, washrooms, stairwells, ramp waiting area, dining room and offices as directed.
 
·        To maintain an adequate supply of toilet tissue and towel in washroom.
 
·        To collect soiled towels and linens from the dormitories and return them for laundry. To carry out laundry duties as instructed and return the correct number of clean folded linen to each dormitory floor, and ensure the correct number of clean folded towels are available for registration.
 
·        To return emptied garbage and recycle bins to their correct storage in the car park.
 
·        To wash, dry and fold kitchen and clothing room laundry.
 
·        To prepare kitchen for breakfast service as instructed and assist with breakfast preparation when required.
 
·        To check register for early wake up call and wake residents for breakfast at the prescribed time.
 
·        To distribute lunches for residents going to work.
 
·        To document clients or other information in the night report that may be needed by the next shift.
 
·        To follow all Health and Safety procedures established by management.
 
·        To maintain the confidentiality policy and ethical standards of Good Shepherd Ministries at all times.
 

To perform any other job related tasks that may from time to time be assigned by the Manager, Client Support Services or designate


Job Requirements

Skill, Nature and Scope:
 
·        Demonstrated commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Good Shepherd Ministries.
·        Excellent written communication skills to produce routine memos, correspondence and reports.
·        The ability to prioritize work overload is essential
·        CPR First Aid Certificate acquired through a recognized course.
·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain team work.
·        The ability to patiently deal with a difficult client group is essential.
 
Hours of work: Evenings, Overnights and Weekends (between 4:30pm and 8:30 am variable shifts)
