Job Description

 Under the general direction of the Communications Manager, this position has responsibility for coordinating external communications for BASF Canada to maintain and strengthen BASF’s reputation amongst external stakeholders. This will include writing and producing materials primarily for an external audience, including press releases, articles, web content and printed materials. This position will also contribute to the development and execution of communications plans for sponsorship, charitable giving and external events. Other duties will include, but not be limited to:

 

- Writing press releases and articles for external publications, printed and online and preparing content for BASF Canada internet and social media platforms (Twitter). 
- Identifying and executing BASF’s participation in strategic sponsorship opportunities and events.
- Coordinating corporate charitable giving activities, liaising with not for profit organizations and identifying and execute press opportunities. 
- Contributing to brand management and brand awareness in Canada. This includes liaising with vendors to manage the placement and frequency of corporate advertising in Canada. 
- Preparing and facilitating site communications plans as they relate to crisis communications and community relations. 
- Developing Canadian presentations and proof points (e.g. corporate quarterly update) 
- Supporting the Communications Manager with the planning and execution of special events, including customer events, press conferences and internal town hall meetings.


Job Requirements

 

 
- A Bachelors degree in Communications, and/or a Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism or a related field, along with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a corporate or agency setting. 
- The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills. French language competencies are a strong asset. 
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs and have intermediate knowledge of PhotoShop. 
- Demonstrated ability to deliver concise writing and message development for an external audience. Familiarity with social media is a strong asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.
